That is less so the case for gunfire aim assist. This is because torpedoes take much, much longer to arrive than shells and the 'torpedo aim assist' is merely an assist, as any WASD from the target will render it useless. The effectiveness of torpedoes is much lower despite the presence of torpedo aim assist, and you can see this in the single-digit torpedo hit rates of most torpedo destroyers while gunfire hit rates vary from 15% to 50%.
